APPLICATION TYPES

 

Saybrook has specific application types to meet a variety of student needs, educational backgrounds, and goals:

  • First-Time Degree Applicant: For applicants who seek to pursue the MA, MS, or PhD degree program who have not enrolled in a degree program at Saybrook, or who graduated from a Saybrook master’s program and wish to apply for a Saybrook PhD degree program, or a second Saybrook master’s degree program. Applicants should complete the “Saybrook University First-Time or Second- Time Degree Applicant” application form. (Students currently enrolled in a Saybrook master’s program should complete the “Saybrook University MA to PhD” application form.)
  • Readmission Applicant: For applicants who were enrolled in a Saybrook University MA or PhD degree within the past five years but withdrew, and applicants who have been withdrawn from Saybrook for five or more years and now seek readmission. Applicants should complete the “Saybrook First-Time or Second- Time Degree Applicant” application form and, in addition, consult the “Readmission of Withdrawn Students” section in this catalogue.
  • Doctoral Completion Applicant: For applicants who attended a doctoral program within the past seven years, who completed all coursework, and who were advanced to candidacy at a regionally-accredited institution, but have not completed the dissertation. Previous doctoral-level graduate work must be in a discipline relevant to psychology, organizational systems, or human science. Please contact the Admissions Office to discuss the appropriateness of this option with the Director of Admissions prior to initiating your application.
  • MA to Saybrook University PhD Applicant: For students currently enrolled in a Saybrook University MA program who wish to seek admission to a PhD program. See additional information below. Admission to the PhD program is not guaranteed. Applicants must have completed the MA degree at Saybrook or be within six credits of finishing the MA degree program or in the final semester of the MA-MFT degree program before completing this application. Admission to the PhD program is not granted before successful graduation from Saybrook’s MA program, and all requirements are filed, completed, and certified by the Registrar. Graduates from Saybrook’s MA program should complete the “Saybrook MA to PhD application form.”
  • Non-Degree Certificate or Individual Course Applicants: For first-time students seeking to register for a single course in non-degree status.
